About Sarah Marek - Physiotherapist
Sarah is a highly experienced Chartered Physiotherapist and Acupuncturist who graduated from Kings College Hospital, London in the late 1980s.
Within the discipline of Physiotherapy she has over 20 years’ professional experience on which to draw; during which she progressed to become a Superintendent Physiotherapist within the NHS when she was selected to head a busy autonomous clinic.
She became the Principal Physiotherapist for Richmond Rugby Football Club for a number of years, and within the private sector has operated a highly successful dedicated Sports Injury Clinic.
On relocating to Devon in 2002 she has continued in the private sector running a successful local practice and is now the valued senior physiotherapist at the Mid Devon Physiotherapy Clinic.
To compliment her physiotherapy skills over recent years she has also qualified as a medical acupuncturist. She is a member of The Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists and also of The Organisation of Charterered Physiotherapists in Private Practice.
She also provides physiotherapy on behalf of Devon County Council in conjunction with their ‘Back to Work Scheme’ for injured employees.
Her skills as a clinician include:
- Vertebral and joint mobilisations
- Soft tissue and sports massage
- Exercise instruction and prevention advice
- Medical acupuncture
- Ultrasound therapy / TENS
In treatment she will often use a variety of techniques to maximise the therapeutic effect. This can include gentle joint mobilisations, soft tissue massage and manual traction along with acupuncture and ultrasound therapy as appropriate.
